Bola Frozen Pizza makes and wholesales premium frozen pizza, specializing in local sourcing, production and quality ingredients. Distribution in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Plano, Ft. Worth, and San Antonio. Available at most HEB and Central Market Stores across the state.
Funded October 2016
Since our original investment, Bola has grown significantly, allowing them to transition from self-distribution to leveraging the centralized distribution hub of one of their major grocery chain clients. To do that, they needed a forklift to load a rented 18-wheeler refrigeration truck. After delays and hassle from both the forklift dealers' financing arm and a bank lender, Bola decided to modify their existing loan with AFI to increase the amount. Within a week of initial contact, the purchase was funded.
Funded January 2015
Bola needed to buy a used pizza oven to dramatically increase efficiency, lower costs and make better pizza.
The bank was only willing to lend on a new oven - which was twice the price - or only half the cost on a used oven.
Three AFI investors funded a collateralized loan, they purchased the "new to them" oven and as a result they were able to keep up with demand and are now in HEB stores across the state.
Bola pizza was able to increase their production, which led to sourcing more ingredients from local farmers and additional employment here in Central Texas. Bola bakes right here in Austin and distributes their products themselves, so their profits come with a multiplier effect on our local economy.
