As "it takes money to make money", it also takes money to raise money. Here's a list of fees you can expect to pay to others while on the fundraising journey...
Not all fees apply to all deals; deals may have fees not listed here. This is just FYI...
Third Party Professional Services Fees
You will be responsible for any fees or costs from non-FI third parties that are associated with your fundraising efforts. Examples may include: a fractional CFO you choose to hire for help with financials; an attorney to review the deal and advise you (we highly recommend this); a marketing guru to help you brand, or run a crowdfunding campaign, or do an investor video or company website.
If you are targeting Accredited Investors, you may wish to engage an Escrow Service to be the trusted third party to hold funds and documents until everything is in and ready to be distributed at closing.
Crowdfunding portals typically include servicing costs in their fee structure.
Investors who provide governance services sometimes charge a fee and sometimes do not.
