FOODSHED INVESTORS

Funds for Farmers

Leverage Resources for Your Operation's Growth
We particularly like to work with regenerative farmers and ranchers who share our mission to increase the supply of good, clean, fair, local food.

Here is a sampling of ways we may help with investment capital:

EQIP Pre-Funding

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) offered by the USDA's Natural Resources Conversation Services (NRCS) provides cost reimbursements for farm and ranch conservation projects. Foodshed Investors can provide up-front financing for approved EQIP projects, enabling you to participate in the program with a much lower drain on your cash. Read more about EQIP Pre-Funding here.

New Farmer Land Access

Access to land and capital is a primary barrier to entry for new farmers. Our New Farmer Land Access Program enables new producers with several years of on-farm experience and business management skills to acquire and run their own fully-financed operation. This is not a lease but rather co-ownership between values-based investors and you, the operator, where you earn, via sweat equity, an ever greater ownership percentage over time.

Livestock Purchase

Sustainable farmers wishing in to increase the size of their cattle, sheep, hog, or broiler operations may consider our Livestock Purchase & Profit Share Program, where we provide the up-front cash for the purchase of animals then split the profits at sale.

Equipment Capital

Producers with unmet demand and growth opportunities are eligible for our Equipment Program, which can be structured either as straight debt (set principal and interest payments monthly) or as royalty debt (where payments fluctuate based on revenue).

Soil Enhancement

What percent organic material is in your soil? How might production yields be improved if it was higher? Do you measure carbon capture? How could adopting Gabe Brown-style techniques change your operation? We specialize in understanding many sources and types of capital (including but not limited to the FI Investor Network) and are particularly interested in projects to improve soil.

Creative Solutions

Is there a USDA or State program you qualify for and would like to participate in that requires up-front cash, or matching, or some other obstacle FI capital could help overcome? We'll work with you to craft creative solutions to allow you to leverage government and private programs. Let's invent something!

Sorry, No Rescues

Unfortunately, we're unable to fund producers that have found themselves in a last-minute, do-or-die pickle. We realize that ag can be heartbreaking and that bad things happen to good people, but we're not equipped to fix those kinds of situations with cash infusions.
